#765 - Spectacular 7.80ct Hart's Range Zircon.

General description : I purchased this stone, (in the rough,) and faceted it around 14 years ago when my son was just a baby. My mum was visiting and we were wondering through the local markets, with my son in a stroller, and I spotted a lovely couple selling some Hart's Range zircon rough that they had hand dug/ fossicked for themselves.

They had then gone to the trouble of taking the zircon rough home, and sawing/ tumbling it, also facetung sone themselves, and ready to sell for their next trip up the following year.

So this one has been in my collection for a few years, as I thought it was just too beautiful to part with ♥️😁🤔

after all these years I am going through my collection and realize that these beautiful gems are better appreciated by someone seeing them every day, instead of being locked away in a safe.

The zircons from The Hart's Range are some of the best in the world! Extremely low levels uranium and thorium are part of the reason that these beautiful gems do not show as much radioactive decay as many other zircons, and retain their absolutely spectacular rainbow scintillation.

It is interesting to note that some of the zircons from this region can fade under exposure to UV radiation / sunlight.

This gem is a very light pink to white colour.

While I believe that this gem will retain its delicate shade of pink, I cannot guarantee it uless I was to experiment and actually put out the sunlight for a couple of days and see if the shade changes.

There are lots of fascinating zircon's around the world that show various light/colour phenomena.
